Being a military family, we are often recruited to care for our grandson when his parents are deployed.
At first, we were concerned about how a new pup would respond to a baby. Burtie (named after Tim Burton) has proven to be extremely patient and gentle with our grandson. Burtie is a real "love bug!"
Burtie is athletic and has participated in FastCAT but mostly enjoys patrolling the perimeter of our property, pretending to be in Caesar's Legions! Prancing like a Roman soldier, flaunting his crest of a tail. His eyes are always looking up the trees -- on the hunt for squirrels, birds and any other critters he can chase. He may as well be "Birdie!"
Burtie is particular about the company he keeps. When we lost our friend Thomas Cassel last Christmas, we decided to adopt Tom's Canaan Dog Roscoe. Although the process has been challenging at times, Burtie and Roscoe are gradually building a bond.
Burtie and Roscoe hang out in the yard, and enjoy sniffing and exploring on long walks. We are happy to say they look forward to greeting each other every morning. We hope Tom is as proud of them as we are!
