Roo is “scary smart,” high energy, and convinced that the whole world is there for his entertainment. Puppyhood and adolescence were VERY challenging.
We have a large fenced area, but if left alone for more than ten minutes in the yard, he would find a way out. Roo would not run off, but he does have a fetish! Multiple times after escaping, he’s gathered chickens one after the other and taken them to the woods. He then kept them gathered there. Problem is that confused, disoriented chickens are not easy to herd back home!
Now, as a three-year-old, we do a better job of managing his energy and stimulating his mind. Roo loves the grandkids and they love coming up with new games for him to play. He will joyfully fetch from great distances. Thank goodness for chucks!
Roo adapts well to new things and has proven to be a performance beast! Herding, Fast CAT, tricks, precision coursing, steeplechase, and recently he’s proven to be very good at weight pull. We don’t enter very often, but have a great time when we do, and it is never boring. Roo sired his first litter, an activity he also enjoys, so I am now hearing about his lovable, quirky, intelligent offspring.
So happy I decided to keep this mischievous puppy that was a little much for possible homes I had!
